We went back to the hotel and parked the car then took a taxi to “Montjuic” and the “Cascade Fountain.” Wow that was absolutely beautiful. The palace is huge and beautiful. “Montjuic” is named the “Jewish mountain” after an important Jewish cemetery that existed there in the middle ages. It was the main site of the 1992 Olympics, held on its southern slopes. The fountain starts at 7 and 9 p.m. We got there to see it start at the 7 p.m. one which was great because it was still light at first. It was awesome! It ran for about 45 minutes. When the water meets in a single jet it can reach up to 50 feet. The extravagant finale is often accompanied by a recording of Freddie Mercury and Montserrat Caballe’ singing the anthem Barcelona, as the fountain fades from pink to green and back to white before silently and gracefully disappearing. It was quite the show!
