Like the Eiffel Tower nothing prepares you for actually seeing it in person. The “Sagrada Familia” is an iconic symbol for Barcelona. It was started by Antoni Gaudi. It was his lifetime ambition. It was started in 1882 Gaudi was hit by a car and killed in 1962 and the building was never finished. The work goes on and the only funding now is by over a million visitors each year. It is really cool to see the 8th wonder of the world in progress. During the last 80 years and at incalculable cost, sculptors and architects have added their own touches to Gaudi’s dream. The project is estimated to be completed in 2030. I had to wait in line for about 45 minutes to take the elevator to the top. It was really cool. I walked all the way down the narrow stairs to the bottom again. That is quite an amazing cathedral!
